Welcome to CFB PetawawaCFB Petawawa, one of three major army bases in Canada, is home to 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group, Area Support Unit Petawawa and Lodger Units. It comprises approximately 4700 soldiers and 5600 family members, with military members living both on base and in the local area. In addition many military members have chosen to make Petawawa their home in their retirement. Petawawa’s primary mission is to support our soldiers in the accomplishment of their military missions, which have recently included deployments to the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Haiti. CMBG is presently preparing to deploy troops to Afghanistan in a significant Canadian contribution to International Peace and Security. Another extremely important initiative that is in progress is the opening of a Medical Clinic that would be available to all members of the Petawawa community intended to alleviate the shortfall of medical professionals in the area, and provide families with services that are desperately needed throughout Ontario. CFB Petawawa is open to the public and I invite you to join us at the campground, beach, golf course or marina, and to partake in our top-notch activities at the recreation centers or to participate in one of the many clubs we offer. The beautiful scenery is breathtaking, the choice of activities endless and the hospitality of the community is second to none.
